Antioxidant Activity in Selected, Commercially Available Biostimulants and Foliar Nutrient Products

Cytozyme products Crop+™ and BioNutrient™ Calcium Extra showed the highest antioxidant activity when compared to seven other biostimulants and four foliar calcium products, respectively.
Cytozyme products Crop+™ and BioNutrient™ Calcium Extra showed the highest antioxidant activity when compared to seven other biostimulants and four foliar calcium products, respectively. Antioxidants are substances which have ability to prevent oxidation of other substances by removing free radicals and inhibiting oxidation reactions. Highly reactive free radicals and oxygen species are formed in biological systems in excess during abiotic stress, such as cold or high temperatures, high light, especially UV exposure, pollution, toxins, high concentrations of atmospheric ozone, etc. The abiotic stress may account for as much as 65% of crop yield loss. The high antioxidant activity in Cytozyme's products adds extra value and helps explain their superior performance in the field through reducing negative effects of abiotic stress and improving yields more than other products on the market.
